Happy Monday everyone!
I thought I start off the month with a contour kit review. I had been eyeing a few contour kits lately, as they are all the rage. There were so many to choose from, but I decided on the Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Palette. You’ve probably already heard of this kit, and their brow pomade. I own the brow pomade and absolutely love it!
Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Palette has six powder contouring shades. The top row has highlighting shades (left to right) Vanilla, Banana, and Sand. The bottom row has contouring shades (left to right) Java, Fawn, and Havana. Each of these are matte, except for the color Sand which has a bit of shimmer to it. I found each one to be very pigmented and had a silky smooth texture. I used both the Real Techniques sculpting brush and expert face brush to apply these. I noticed that they are such a fine powder, that when using a brush the fall out of powder would make a serious mess on the palette. So, I really recommend tapping off your brush of any excess powder before application. If you don’t tap off the excess product, you’ll notice a lot of fallout. The darker shades produce much more fall out, or it’s just more noticeable because of the darker colors. I’m not too sure, but it is definitely something to be aware of. I really loved all the colors, but Banana is my favorite. I use this shade to set my under eye concealer. The yellow undertone masks the bluish purple dark circles fairly well. I’m still practicing getting the perfect contour for my face. I’ve always used bronzers to contour slightly, but this palette allows for so much more refinement to the contour process.
Essentially, I consider this to be a pretty good investment item for someone who wants a variety of highlight and contour shades in one palette. The shades that comes in the palette make it versatile for the majority of skin tones. For darker skin tones, Anastasia makes another palette with deeper contour shades. Although this may seem pricey at first glance, buying a few different bronzers and a highlighter would be much more expensive than purchasing this one kit. Also, I believe that used pans can be replaced. That makes this contour kit much more economical in the long run.
Thank you so much for stopping by. I hope you have an amazing day!
